A drunk man was found passed out in only his boxer shorts and a t shirt after accidentally killing 70,000 chickens when he switched off their power supply.
21-year-old Joshua Shelton from Maryland in the US has been charged with second-degree burglary, trespass and malicious destruction of property, after switching off the power at Mark Shockley’s poultry farm.
After 15 minutes without food or fresh air, the chickens started dying, according to Time.
"The theory is that he may have been in there looking for a light switch," said Lt. Tim Robinson of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.
It would appear Shelton had enjoyed quite a night before accidentally killing off 70,000 chickens.
"[Shelton] was also lying in a pool of his own urine. A strong odor of alcohol was also coming from the subject," according to Lt. Robinson
"Shelton advised the last thing he remembered was being on the property after a nearby concert but did not know how he ended up in the shed," Lt. Robinson continued. "The deputy surmised that in his intoxicated state, Shelton turned off the circuit breakers that controlled the electricity to the chicken houses."
It's believed Shelton is known to the farm owner's family.
The damage bill is set to exceed $220,000.
