The Salvation Army is hoping a flurry of last-minute donations will push its target from The West Winter Appeal and Red Shield Appeal over the $1 million line by midnight tonight.

By late yesterday, The West Winter Appeal had raised $194,000 and the Salvos' annual Red Shield Appeal $800,000.

Salvos spokesman Warren Palmer said every donation counted and every dollar raised helped the Salvos in their work with the State's most needy.

He said donors had until midnight to donate online if they wanted to use the donations as tax deductions for this financial year.

"We are just so grateful to the community for their long and loyal support to the Salvation Army and for their trust," Mr Palmer said.

"Every one of our donations are as important as the largest."
