Jackaroo driver sought over Broome death

FLIP PRIOR, The West Australian March 3, 2010, 6:08 am

Police investigating the death of Broome man Josh Warneke want to speak to the woman driver of a green and silver Holden Jackaroo who ordered food from the McDonald's drive-through minutes before he was found dead.

Mr Warneke, 21, who was on foot, was refused service at the outlet about 2.30am on February 26. His body was discovered on Broome Highway about 3am.

Broome Det-Sgt Brett Baddock said the Jackaroo, which had a chrome nudge bar, was captured on CCTV at McDonald's at 2.40am.

The woman and a passenger ordered food before driving away.

"They were in the area at the time and may have seen or heard something," Det-Sgt Baddock said.
