Diver dies at Exmouth

ATHANAE LUCEV, The West Australian December 9, 2009, 6:08 am

A 50-year-old Mundijong man died yesterday after scuba diving near Exmouth.

The man was diving from a boat with a group of friends off South Murion Island, 20 nautical miles off North West Cape.

Sgt Dean Snashall, of Exmouth police, said it was too early to tell exactly what happened.

"We were alerted to the incident on the emergency channel at 1.55pm and two boats, one quite a large yacht and another boat, were despatched," Sgt Snashall said.

The unconscious man was taken to the Navy Pier north of Exmouth where ambulance officers were unable to revive him and he died late yesterday afternoon at Exmouth Hospital.
