Great white hunt continues

Great white hunt continues

The Department of Fisheries is continuing its hunt for a great white shark off Warnbro as drum lines were set for a second day today.

Fisheries yesterday declared the shark, which it has been monitoring for the past fortnight, an imminent threat.

The Department sent vessels to beaches in the area and deployed drum lines after the shark came within 1km of the shore on consecutive days.

Warnbro beach is closed today and the drum lines would remain in the water until dusk.

The shark, tagged by the Department of Fisheries, has set off a monitoring buoy inside Warnbro sound 99 times since November 24.

If caught, the shark will be shot.

Surf Life Saving WA has reported several shark sightings along Perth beaches today.

A two metre tiger shark was caught and released off Warnbro beach today.
