Drugs seized in booze bus stop

Police have seized a firearm and drugs from a car stopped during an overnight booze bus operation.

It will be alleged the weapon and methamphetamine were located under the driver's seat of a Holden Caprice stopped on East Parade in East Perth just after midnight.

A 26-year-old passenger is alleged to have fled after being asked to get out of the car while police drug-tested the 40-year-old driver.

He was arrested nearby.

The driver, of no fixed address, was charged with aggravated possession of a firearm, possessing an unlicensed firearm, possessing a prohibited drug and possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.

He was due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.

The passenger was charged with obstructing police and possessing a prohibited drug. He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court December 19.
