Fire damages Albany school

Some classes will be cancelled at an Albany primary school today after fire overnight significantly damaged the school.

At about 1.50am firefighters responded to an out of control fire at Flinders Park Primary School.

About eight career and volunteer firefighters took two hours to contain the blaze, which caused $500,000 damage.

The fire was not believed to be deliberately lit and the cause was determined as accidental.

The blaze completely destroyed one classroom and caused smoke damage to the gym and two other classrooms.

It is believed a limited number of classes will be affected.
