Women in terrifying hold-up

The bandit flees after attempting to rob two women at Cockburn Central.

Two women in their 60s were threatened last night by a gun-wielding bandit who pulled the trigger on the weapon, police say.

The women, aged 64 and 63, who are tourists and were walking south along Linkage Avenue in Cockburn Central just after 6pm when they were approached by the man.

He demanded their hand bags then pulled out a small firearm when they refused.

A police spokeswoman said he pulled the trigger and there was a clicking noise.

The women screamed and the man ran away, possibly leaving the scene in a small, dark hatchback which was parked nearby.

He was described as being in his late 20s with very dark skin.

He was wearing a hooded top, shorts and a cap.
