Man stuck in machinery at chicken factory

A man has been freed after he was trapped in machinery at a chicken processing factory in Wangara.

The worker became trapped after 2-3 cubic metres of ice fell on him in cooling machinery silo about 1.50pm today.

A worker raised the alarm when his absence from a production line was noticed.

Twenty-five firefighter using specialised equipment worked for about 45 minutes to free the man.

A hole had to be cut in the side of the silo at the Dellamarta Road property to get access to the worker.

The man in his 30s, reportedly from Taiwan, has suspected spinal injuries.

He was conscious when he was taken by ambulance to Joondalup Hospital.
