Police have charged a 23-year-old Stratton man over two pursuits and the theft of a high-performance car in the past three days.

It is alleged the man stole a Ford performance vehicle from a property in Lansdale about 11.40pm on Friday.

The car was seen by police in Beechboro about 9am the next day.

Police tried to stop the car, but the driver allegedly failed to stop so police pursued him before the chase was aborted for safety reasons.

The stolen vehicle was found in Balcatta yesterday.

Police had identified a person of interest after the pursuit, who officers yesterday sighted riding an off-road bike in Doubleview with a passenger onboard.

They tried to stop the bike, but the rider allegedly sped away and used a footpath to escape.

He later lost control of the machine in Balga and he and his female passenger were taken into police custody.

The man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, two counts of stealing, having no authority to drive, reckless driving to evade police and failing to stop.

He is due to appear in the East Perth Magistrate's Court today.
