Wandering crash victim found safe

The search for a 28-year-old man has been called off after he managed to find his way back to his worksite near Laverton.

Police spokesman Sam Dinnison said he was being treated for dehydration.

Police launched a search for the man yesterday after he was involved in a bus crash about 40km south of Laverton.

Some time between 3pm and 3.30pm, he was the only passenger on a bus that rolled on Mount Well Road.

He was last seen walking into bush by the bus driver, who hitched a ride back to the worksite and raised the alarm.

About 40 workers from a nearby mine site helped police search the surrounding area last night, without luck.

Police did not know if the man was injured, but today’s forecast maximum of 43C prompted them to call in air support and local emergency volunteers.
