Arson Squad officers are investigating a fire in Yanchep last night which destroyed a caravan and threatened homes.

Just after 10pm, a St Claire Street resident noticed an orange glow coming from his driveway.

He walked outside to find his caravan on fire.

Firefighters arrived as flames threatened to spread to two nearby properties and a car.

They managed to contain the fire in a matter of minutes, limiting the damage bill to about $25,000.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious.
