Fire warning near Byford

Residents have been warned about a bushfire burning south of Armadale.

The fire was reported just before 11am and is burning near the intersection of Hopkinson Road and Cardup Siding Road, on the border of Cardup and Byford.

Spot fires are occurring ahead of the main blaze.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issue a bushfire advice warning for people in the western part of Cardup and the south-western part of Byford but there is currently no threat to lives or homes.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, slow down and drive carefully because of smoke in the vicinity.
