A police dog will have surgery today after it was hurt during a foot chase in Manning yesterday.
About 3.20pm yesterday, police arrived at a Cloister Avenue home and allegedly saw two young men vault the back fence.
Led by police dog Ego officers started tracking the suspects.
Ego and his handler eventually caught up with one of the men in the carpark of a nearby school.
The other man was apprehended in the street.
Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said the dog received a gash to its leg during the pursuit and would have surgery today.
An 18-year-old man will appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today charged with stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated burglary and stealing.
A 17-year-old man will face Rockingham Children’s Court on charges of aggravated burglary and stealing.Last month, canine cop Vector was treated for a deep cut to his head received while chasing burglary suspects. He is recovering.
