One of Perth's biggest job re- cruitment drives is under way to attract more than 1000 non-medical staff needed for Fiona Stanley Hospital.

The campaign was launched this week by services company Serco, which will be managing all the non-clinical support services at the new Murdoch hospital due to open in April next year.

The recruitment drive is expected to be one of the biggest in WA this year, creating hundreds of new jobs and boosting the local economy.

Serco facilities management director Joe Boyle said it was an exciting employment opportunity for people in Perth who would be recruited into a wide range of positions from grounds maintenance to hospital sterilisation services.

"We would like to get local people considering what opportunities there may be for them, including those who haven't previously considered working in a hospital," Mr Boyle said.

Mr Boyle said the company wanted people to register now, even though the hospital would not be open until next year.

Serco will be responsible for 28 operational services at the 783-bed hospital, including managing medical equipment and patient electronic health records and catering, cleaning and sterilisation services.
