After months of speculation, Perth millionaire property developer Warwick Hemsley and Fremantle Federal MP Melissa Parke have confirmed they are a couple.

Whispers that they were an item began late last year when Ms Parke and the WA Opera chairman were spotted together at several Perth events, including a pre-drinks gathering ahead of Elton John's concert at Perth Arena in November.

_The Weekend West _understands that the couple first met at the opera late last year where they struck up a friendship and they confirmed this week that they are in the early days of a relationship.

This week, Mr Hemsley and Ms Parke were spotted at two Perth events.

On Wednesday, they attended a VIP Australia Day luncheon at Government House where they posed for photographs.

Later that day, they were at the opening of Picturing New York at the Art Gallery of WA.

Mr Hemsley and Texan model and actress Jerry Hall, who has four children with her former partner, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, mutually ended a two-year relationship in August with a source putting it down to "distance and circumstances".

Ms Parke was previously romantically linked with Climate Change Minister Greg Combet
