Phoebe Wearne, The West Australian January 21, 2013, 8:00 am

Thieves caused a bushfire in Lower Chittering yesterday after they set fire to a stolen car.

The offenders broke into a property on Jenjoda Road by smashing a window some time between January 16 and January 20 and stole a container of fuel.

Police found the stolen Toyota Hilux about 1km from the property.

The car had been burnt out and surrounding scrubland had caught fire, burning about 6ha of bush.
