A 15-year-old Yangebup boy has been charged over a scrub fire in South Lake on Boxing Day.

While investigations are continuing to find others involved, Murdoch detectives this morning charged the boy with wilfully lighting a fire likely to injure or cause damage.

He will appear in Fremantle Children's Court on January 17.
