A homeless man was brutally assaulted after trying to fight back when an offender tried to steal his food in Northbridge last night.
The 32-year-old victim was behind the Lutheran Church on Aberdeen Street about 10pm last night when a man approached and tried to steal a packet of noodles from him.
The victim tried to stop the offender and a fight broke out.
The offender then fled to a nearby supermarket and the victim followed him. Another fight ensued before the victim flagged down a passing police car.
He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment for a possible broken jaw and bruising to the face.
