Taxi driver appears in court over death

NATASHA BODDY, The West Australian December 18, 2012, 12:23 pm

A Kenwick taxi driver charged over the death of a 25-year-old passenger last month has made a brief appearance in court.

Shamsul Haque Rasuly, 26, appeared in the Perth Magistrate's Court this morning charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and render assistance and failing to report the accident.

It is alleged Mr Rasuly's passenger Ryan Doyle fell out of his taxi following an argument over the fare.

Mr Doyle later died in Royal Perth Hospital.

The alleged accident occurred on Leake Street in Belmont on November 19.

In court this morning, Mr Rasuly did not plead to the charges and requested an adjournment for legal advice.

He was released on bail to face Perth Magistrate's Court again on January 15.
