Leighton Beach was closed today after a 4m shark was sighted 100m offshore.
The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter confirmed the sighting at about midday.
Originally it was thought the species was a tiger shark but it was later confirmed to be a great white.
Surf Life Saving tweeted several pictures of the shark.
The beach was reopened about 1pm.
Fisheries also confirmed a sighting of a 1.5m shark about 50m offshore of main bay Kalbarri about 1pm.
About 4.30pm fisheries advised that a 3m shark has been sighted about 170m off Challenger Harbour heading south-west towards Carnac.Sponsored links
