Ram-raiders start fire at Wangara business

The West Australian November 11, 2012, 10:10 am

Police are investigating damage to a motor re-building business in Wangara after what appears to be a failed ram-raid attempt.

About 4am the thieves jumped the fence of the business on Buckingham Drive in Wangara.

Police said the offenders managed to start a Holden Commodore utility parked in the grounds before ramming the vehicle into the front of the building.

The ute was then set alight and destroyed. Part of the building was also destroyed, causing between $10,000 and $20,000 damage.

The offenders fled the scene without managing to gain access to the building.

Arson squad investigators are expected to examine the scene this morning.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
