Scarborough Beach closed after shark spotted

Scarborough Beach has been closed after a 3.5m shark was spotted off the coast.

The shark was first spotted from a boat 1km off Floreat dog beach, near Hale Road, about midday.

Surf life savers at the beach warned people about the sighting.

The shark was spotted from the Westpac Rescue helicopter about an hour later1km off Brighton Beach and travelling south.

A 2.5m bronze whaler shark was also seen from the helicopter, near Little Island off Hillarys.
