Fire destroys house in Great Southern

A house in the Great Southern was destroyed by fire overnight.

A Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokesman said about 4.30am firefighters were called to the property on Settlement Road near Narrikup, about 15km south of Mt Barker.

He said volunteer firefighters from Mount Barker and the Narrikup bushfire brigade attended but could not save the house.

It is understood the home was vacant.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
