A Floreat dry cleaning business was destroyed by a fire that ripped through the shop last night.
Career firefighters from Daglish, Osborne Park, Claremont and Fremantle were called to Cambridge Laundry and Dry Cleaning on Birkdale Street about 8.30pm after reports of thick black smoke billowing from the shop.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control in less than 15 minutes, however the intensity of the flames saw it cause $300,000 damage.
Staff at a neighbouring Thai restaurant said they spent about 10 minutes trying to work out where the fire had started after smelling thick smoke.
"We thought it was coming from the restaurant so we checked everything," one staff member said.
The restaurant on Cambridge street did not have any customers inside at the time of the fire. It is expected to reopen today for its normal dinner service after receiving only minor smoke damage.Firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire last night but did not believe it was suspicious.
