Notorious paedophile Bradley Pendragon has been arrested over an incident in which a woman with a baby was attacked as she got into a car in Mount Lawley last night.
The 38-year-old woman fought back as she was attacked.
Police allege the woman had returned to her car parked on Ellesmere Road, near Mercy Hospital, with her baby just before 8pm and was about to drive off when a man reached into her vehicle through the passenger door.
The man, who was armed with a knife, allegedly grabbed the woman around the throat before she wrestled the knife away from him.
The woman suffered serious cuts to her hands but the baby was not injured.
Bradley Pendragon, 52, was charged with armed assault with intent to rob and aggravated unlawful wounding.
He appeared in Perth Magistrate's Court today and did not apply for bail.
He is due to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrate Court on September 19.
Mr Pendragon, deported to Australia in 2006 after serving 13 years in Thailand for sexually abusing Thai girls, was released in late May after 34 months in prison for possessing child pornography.He was the subject of a police investigation last month when a customer at an internet cafe complained about the nature of material Mr Pendragon was reading.
