A South West mother and her baby had a narrow escape after a Toyota Prado ploughed into the front of their Dalyellup house this afternoon.

Police said it appeared the male driver had lost control of his four-wheel-drive on Milesi Bend and hit the garage and theatre room of the house.

The collision caused extensive damage, but no one was injured.

Resident Ashlee Gentry and her 19-month-old son were home, but in another part of the house, when they heard a "huge bang".

"It was lucky we weren't in the theatre room but we could have been," she said.

"My son was playing in there earlier today and it's something you would never think would happen."

The young mother said the driver, in his 40s, stumbled out of the car and was `"out of sorts" but not seriously injured.

The driver was taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital.
