Woman hit in face during pub robbery

Detectives are investigating a robbery at the Merriwa Tavern last night where a female staff member was assaulted.

Officers were called to the business about 11.15pm after reports that a man stole several bottles of spirits before hitting the woman in the with one of the bottles on his way out.

The woman received cuts to her face and was treated in hospital.

The offender is described as in his mid-20, dark skinned, short black hair and wearing a black baseball cap.
