MICHELLE RIDLEY, The West Australian July 4, 2012, 10:35 am

A 38-year-old Oakford man has died in a workplace accident at his business this morning.

Sen-Sgt Mike Newman said the man had been working on a piston when it exploded and part of the piston hit him in the chest.

The man's workmates called an ambulance but by the time it arrived he had died.

WorkSafe will investigate the man's death.

Police are at the scene and have interviewed the man's workmates about the incident.

A worker has suffered burns in a separate workplace accident in Osborne Park.

The extent of the injuries are not known. Fire investigators are yet to examine the scene.

More to come.
