A blind woman was brutally bashed after a stranger knocked on the door of her Ashfield home claiming to be hurt.
Police are calling for witnesses to the vicious attack that left the woman unconscious for about half an hour before she was able to call for help.
The woman is legally blind and has very limited sight.
She was watching the late news on television about 10.30pm on Friday night at her French Street home when a young woman knocked on her door, said she was hurt and asked to use her phone.
The victim said she would call an ambulance and only opened the door slightly but two men appeared and pushed their way into the house.
The men demanded medication and money and the woman reported hearing one of the offenders telling the other to search the house for jewellery.
One of the men grabbed the victim and rammed her head into a coffee table several times.
The woman was also punched in the head.
She suffered bruising to her arms, hips, buttocks and back, bleeding to the brain on the right side of her head and broken facial bones around her right eye.
She was taken to Swan Districts Hospital and later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.
The offenders fled with a sum of cash and medication.They have been described only as dark skinned.
