A couple in love brought logging in the Warrup forest block to a temporary halt this morning by locking themselves to an underground structure on a major road servicing the coupe.

The pair, Greenpeace activist from Sydney Tanya Ward and her partner University of Notre Dame student Ian Melville locked their arms into a specially designed concrete box dug into the road.

The couple said their Valentine Day action was an "expression of love for the wilderness."

A spokeswoman for the Forest Products Commission said the action had not disrupted the logging activities and "harvesting" had continued as planned.

Police spent six hours working to get the couple out of the structure.

Forest Rescue spokesman Simon Peterffy said protesters would continue to block logging activities using non-violent direct actions to protect the Warrup block.

He said his group would defend the area “to the hiltâ€
