Explosion at bushland drug lab

Police are investigating a bush drug lab which exploded in Karrakup, near Byford this afternoon.

Authorities were alerted to the clandestine lab after smoke was spotted coming from bushland.

The explosion created a small scrub fire which is understood to have been extinguished shortly after by Department of Environment and Conservation firefighters.

Clandestine drug lab specialists are on their way to the scene to investigate the incident.
