Gleeful Twitter boast gets cops' attention

A driver is being investigated by police after bragging on Twitter about knocking a cyclist off his bike.

The Daily Mail in Britain reports that Emma Way, 20, boasted about her collision with a rider in Norwich.

Writing under the name @emmaway20, she tweeted: "Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier – I have right of way he doesn’t even pay road tax! #bloodycyclists".

Her tweet sparked a storm of protest on Twitter.

Chef Toby Hockley, 29, came forward to say he was the cyclist and he had been competing in a road race when he was clipped by Ms Way's car.

Ms Way's foolish rejoicing on social media also drew the attention of police, who might never have otherwise investigated because Mr Hockley had not thought to report it.

Norfolk police quickly sent a tweet to Ms Way, informing her she had some explaining to do.

"We have had tweets ref an RTC [road traffic collision] with a bike. We suggest you report it at a police station ASAP if not done already & then dm [direct message] us', the tweet read.

In previous tweets, Ms Way has complained about being stuck behind 'some clueless crazy fool!', and taken a photo of her speedomoter at 95 mp/h - 25 miles over the speed limit.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ms Way's alleged victim said he was lucky to be alive.

"A car came tearing round the blind corner and narrowly missed a cyclist in front of me. She came on to my side of the road, I took the wing mirror off and I went flying off my bike into a hedge."

"She hit me really hard."

Ms Way appears to have now deleted her Twitter account.
