A teenage car thief has been caught after she was recognised when she appeared on X Factor.
Singer Paige Flaherty allegedly stole a pink Mini then ran down a pedestrian at a crosswalk in England more than 18 months ago.
Ms Flaherty took the car from outside a house in Jarrow, South Tyneside, reports the Daily Mail.
The 19-year-old then drove to Newcastle where she collided with a pedestrian, Chris Brown, at the crossing but gave him bogus name and contact details.
But Mr Flaherty, who was part of the girl band Twisted, was arrested after Mr Brown spotted her on the TV talent show.
At Newcastle Crown Court this week, Ms Flaherty pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking and driving without insurance, the Daily Mail reports.
Prosecutor Jeanette Smith told the court Mr Brown realised it was Ms Flaherty who had hit him after he saw her on the television show.
"He had been trying to get in touch with her by text message, but it became clear she had given him the wrong details," she said.
"Then, weeks later, he saw the defendant auditioning on X Factor and thought it was the same person, and got in touch with the police."
Ms Flaherty's band Twisted hit the headlines after the X-Factor judge Kelly Rowland told band member Chrissie Pitt, from South Shields, to ditch the rest of the band and continue as a solo artist.
At the end of the hearing, Judge Esmond Faulks said: "I don't watch X Factor so I am out of the loop."Ms Flaherty, who has never been in trouble before, will be sentenced in April.
