China censors Titanic 3D nude scene

China's classification board has censored Kate Winslet's nude scene from the 3D version of Titanic because it is concerned viewers might try and "touch" her.

The 1998 movie has been released in 3D in time for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

However, MovieFix reports the life drawing scene, in which the actress famously poses nude, will be censored.

The website reports China's State of Administration of Radio, Film and Telivision classification board has made the decision in a bid to promote a "harmonious ethical social environment".

An official from the board told Offbeat China it fears viewers could try to "reach out their hands for a touch" and "interrupt other people's viewing".

"To avoid potential conflicts between viewers and out of consideration of building a harmonious ethical social environment, we've decided to cut off the nudity scenes," the official said.

Moviefix reports some are upset at Winslet being shown only from the neck up during the famous scene.

"I've been waiting almost 15 years, and not for the 3D icebergs," one Chinese blogger complained.
