A British woman who pleaded guilty to biting off her boyfriend's testicles during a drunken brawl is facing a jail term, with a judge warning her he could lock her up.
Maria Topp, 44, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm when she appeared at Newcastle Crown Court.
The Daily Mail reported that she bit Martin Douglas, her partner of five years, during a drunken brawl in February.
He needed emergency surgery to re-attach his genitals.
Prosecutor Gavin Doig said it was always the Crown's case that Mr Douglas suffered a number of injuries, particularly a very serious wound to his scrotum.
"The crown's case has always been that was caused by a bite. Until today the defence's contention was it was caused by her hands," the Daily Mail reported.
"Her plea, as I understand, is on the basis she did indeed cause that injury with her teeth."
"It is an aggravating feature she used her teeth."
Defence lawyer Caroline Goodwin said Topp did not remember the attack.
The court was told the pair had split several times and then got back together.
The judge warned Topp: "I have no idea what I am going to do with you. All options are open and that will include locking you up.'Sponsored links
