The first man to have his car crushed under WA’s tough anti-hoon laws faces have a second car crushed after today pleading guilty to driving while under suspension and giving police a false name.
Thomas Peter Stocks today pleaded guilty to one count each of driving without a license and providing a false name when he appeared in the Midland Magistrate’s Court.
Magistrate Colin Roberts disqualified Stocks for another nine months and fined him $1000. Stocks had previously been banned from driving for three years.
Mr Roberts told Stocks he had an appalling driving record and it was only a matter of time before he faced a term of imprisonment.
Ten days ago, Stocks became the first man to have his car, a 1992 Mitsubishi Lancer, crushed after being convicted of a third hoon offence.
Today, police prosecutors told the court they would make an application to crush another car owned by Stokes, a Ford which has been impounded for 28 days.
Representing himself, Stocks told the court he drove on The Boardway, Ellenbrook, to the shops because he was “hungryâ€.
Mr Roberts told Stocks he had been disqualified from driving.
“What do you understand about that,†Mr Roberts asked Stocks.
Stocks: “I do understand it.â€
Mr Roberts: “But you just ignored it.â€
Mr Roberts said Stocks had a long time to go before he could drive again.
“Don’t drive,†Mr Roberts told Stocks.
