UPDATE:An explosion and fire at a house in Perth’s northeast that burned a man was deliberately lit, police say.
The fire started just after 8.30am in the Park Road home.
A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the house was fully engulfed in flames when career and volunteer firefighters from Midland, Mundaring and Glen Forrest arrived.
A police spokesman said police and DFES received "multiple emergency calls" about the blaze.
The man, believed to be aged 46, was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital but police say his burns are not as serious as first thought.
Arson Squad detectives have now confirmed initial reports that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder.
The injured man will remain in hospital overnight and is assisting police with their investigation.
