A woman has been airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries when the car she was in collided with a train south of Perth.
The car was hit by the Australind train late on Sunday morning when it attempted to cross the rail line on the South Western Highway at Burekup, near Bunbury, police say.
The woman, a rear passenger, was trapped in the car and freed by firefighters.
Her injuries were serious but not life threatening, while her three passengers sustained minor injuries.
A rescue helicopter transported the woman to Royal Perth Hospital.More than 40 train passengers were brought to Bunbury by bus and the South Western Highway has been temporarily closed.
