Car attacked with bollard, metal pole: police

Police allege a man used a bollard and metal pole to smash a car in North Lake last night.

A 27-year-old man stopped his car on a North Lake street about 6.15pm to use his mobile phone.

Police allege another driver stopped his car beside the other vehicle and "became irate that the man was parked where he had".

"It will be alleged the man tried to grab the victim through the window of the vehicle but was unsuccessful," police said.

The victim escaped through the passenger side of his car before the other man allegedly punched the car's window and used a nearby bollard and a metal pole to smash the car.

Police allege the bollard was thrown at the victim, who sustained a minor laceration to his finger.

"He received bruising and an abrasion to his bicep from the attempt to drag him through the window," police said.

"Police arrived at the scene and arrested the man, who was [allegedly] still inside the vehicle smashing the interior with the metal pole."

A 35-year-old North Lake man is due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court this morning.
