Police pursuing a stolen red Ford Falcon in a chase through Perth suburbs that started after a driver failed to stop for officers earlier this morning have arrested a man in Armadale.

Officers swooped on a house after the driver of the car abandoned it and fled on foot.

The driver is believed to be Axel Winmar, 23, wanted by police for questioning over a number of incidents across Perth in recent weeks.

Police have confirmed that a 23-year-old man has been apprehended.

The chase, involving several police cars, began after the Falcon failed to stop for police on Orpington Street in Cloverdale about 9.30am.

The police helicopter was also involved in the chase.

The driver was spotted in Seville Grove before pulling up outside an Armadale home and abandoning the Falcon.

He jumped several fences before entering a home, believed to be on Cabarita Road.Police say the car, a 2010 Falcon, was seen being driven erratically on Charles Street, North Perth.The registration number is 1DRZ 364.

Det-Sen. Sgt. Jason Beesley of the newly formed vehicle crime unit said it was fortunate no one was injured in the incident.He said the unit had spent the last week and half working in conjunction with other sections of the police to apprehend the man."We re happy that we got this person today and we’ll see what happens tonight and early in the morning in relation to charges and we’ll let the court process take over from there," he said.
