Runaway con-artist Ashton Foley is in police custody tonight after being arrested by Victorian detectives east of Melbourne.
It is understood the arrest relates to an offence committed in Melbourne before she was employed as the chief operating officer of Peel Health Campus in Mandurah last year.
Mrs Foley became a whistleblower against the hospital before her fraudulent past was exposed by The West Australian earlier this month.
“Police can confirm that a 40-year-old Hawthorn woman was arrested at a residential address in Lindamay Court, Lake Bunga around 10am this morning,” a Victorian Police statement said.
“She was arrested on a warrant for breaching a Community Based Order and has been remanded to appear at Bairnsdale Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.”
Despite media reports, WA Police said they have made no extradition request to Victoria and Mrs Foley is not facing charges in WA at this stage.
Peel Health Campus has made an official complaint to the WA fraud squad alleging she falsified her academic qualifications.
Earlier this month, The West Australian travelled to Victoria and the rural property four hours from Melbourne where Mrs Foley was last living with her husband Wayne and their four children.
Mr Foley claimed his wife had left Australia for the US where she wanted to clear up an outstanding fraud matter.
The fraud case resulted in her arrest and detention in 2008 under the name Michelle Marie Foley.
Her criminal background was uncovered by The West Australian three weeks ago, despite Mrs Foley’s attempts to stop the truth about her past being published.
At one point the 40-year-old lied about the birthplace of one of her children who later died.
She also fabricated a different maiden name to explain why her academic qualifications could not be confirmed.
After Mrs Foley confessed to the fraud matter on Seven News, she lost her latest job as the chief executive of Orbost Regional Health Service in Victoria.
One recent media report had Mrs Foley claiming she would still give evidence to an inquiry into PHC via video-link from an undisclosed location. In November, Mrs Foley was hailed a courageous whistleblower for handing over documents about PHC and giving evidence to a parliamentary committee.
