Teens charged after police chase

Three teenagers are in custody over a police chase from Mt Pleasant to St Georges Terrace and caused traffic chaos in the CBD yesterday.

Police started the pursuit on Queens Road in Mt Pleasant after noticing the allegedly stolen Subaru sedan just after 5pm.

The car was initially pursued by a police vehicle before a helicopter took over.

The 12km pursuit ended on St Georges Terrace and Milligan Streets when the stolen vehicle became boxed in by traffic.

A police spokesman said all occupants were arrested after the driver started ramming traffic.

"It was necessary to break the driver's window and one of the offenders and two police officers received minor injuries during the arrest," he said.

Two westbound lanes on St Georges Terrace had to be closed due to the incident.

The chase followed burglaries in East Fremantle and Alfred Cove.

One female and two males will appear in Perth Children's Court this morning.
