A teenage boy is facing a string of charges after he allegedly fled a police random breath test unit and led officers on a high speed chase before crashing into a garden bed in Carlisle last night.
Officers attached to a breath and drug bus in East Victoria Park were parked in a nearby side street about 10pm when a vehicle on approach to the bus turned down the same side street.
Police said they attempted to stop the vehicle due to the manner in which the car was being driven but it is alleged the driver failed to stop and accelerated away.
A short pursuit was aborted by officers, for safety reasons, but police continued to patrol for the vehicle and found it crashed in Apollo Way in Carlisle.
A number of people were located in the vicinity of the crashed vehicle, and a 16-year-old boy from Maddington was taken into custody. He was charged with no authority to drive, reckless driving and fail to stop and he is due to appear in the Perth Children’s Court on December 19.
