The girlfriend of a 28-year-old man who was knocked unconscious in a one-punch attack in Baldivis at the weekend has urged people to think of the family and friends who may be affected before throwing a punch.
Ryley Remeika said she had been playing pool with her boyfriend, Daniel Steinke, at The Chase Bar and Bistro on Settlers Avenue on Saturday afternoon following the AFL grand final when one of the people in a group they had been playing pool with unexpectedly struck the store manager.
Mr Steinke has no recollection of the attack.
Ms Remeika described how others in the bar tried to help Mr Steinke. She praised the ambulance officers who rushed to the bar.
Mr Steinke has been left with bleeding to his brain and a fractured jaw.
Police have urged others who were in The Chase Bar at the time of the attack to come forward, including some of the suspect's friends who also tried to help Mr Steinke.
