A friend of the Rayney family yesterday described how Lloyd Rayney seemed normal and relaxed when she dropped his eldest daughter home from a concert within hours of him allegedly murdering his wife.
Shana Russell, who described Corryn Rayney as one of her closest friends, was asked about Mr Rayney's demeanour on the night of August 7, 2007.
Mr Rayney is fighting an allegation he killed his wife after she returned home from a dance class about 9.45 that night, hid her body and buried her at Kings Park after his eldest daughter returned home and went to bed.
Yesterday, Ms Russell said she told Mr Rayney the concert would end about 9.30pm. She said she had not corrected this after she learnt it would finish after 10pm. Ms Russell said she had no recollection of receiving a call from Mr Rayney.
Ms Russell said Mr Rayney appeared relaxed when she arrived after the concert and had invited her in. She recalled he was wearing a woollen navy jumper. The defence team had suggested he was in pyjamas.
