Thrill-seekers stuck on rollercoaster

Adrenaline junkies got more than they bargained for after getting stuck on a rollercoaster for more than two hours.

Twelve visitors were trapped on The Superman Ultimate Flight ride, at the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, in California after the cars stalled on the track.

Firefighters were called to the park but were unable to free the passengers from the ride, which only opened on June 30.

Mechanics eventually fixed the problem after two hours and no one was injured.

Six Flags spokesman Nancy Chan said she didn't know what caused the ride to stop but a safety inspection was being carried out to find out what happened.

"If (a ride) stops, it usually detects something and it stops for safety reasons," she told the Vallejo-Times Herald.
