Foodbank gets its cheer back

Foodbank manager Pat Hodges was in despair when she spoke to The Geraldton Guardian on December 5.

With demand rising as Christmas drew near, Foodbank Geraldton had just $1300 in the kitty and was appealing for help.

Geraldton’s community heard the call and responded magnificently, in less than two weeks those funds have zoomed to $10,600 and still climbing.

“It’s amazing, we can’t thank The Guardian enough for letting everyone know the trouble we were in,” said Mrs Hodges.

“Donations began arriving the day the paper was published and haven’t stopped. We still need more, but Christmas is not looking so bleak for our many clients now.”
