A maelstrom of merry musical melodies from a group of excited marimba music makers provided a marvellous and moving finale to the 41st annual Esperance Music Festival on Saturday night.
The three-day musical extravaganza finished with the Marimba Mash group inviting other musicians who performed on the night to close the festival playing Pachelbel’s Canon with the audience clapping along. Adjudicator Penny Black was so impressed with the finale that she awarded Marimba Mash a mark of 100 per cent and praised the leadership and enthusiasm of group leader Kathy Stevens.
“I loved the way she led all the performers in a wonderful conclusion,” Ms Black said.
Ms Black said she thoroughly enjoyed adjudicating the festival and said city people would be envious of the amount of musical talent that was in Esperance.
“How come you’ve got so much musical talent here?” she asked. She encouraged families to get their children involved after seeing how much fun and enjoyment they derived from music.
