The Perth Zoo giraffe made famous by the photograph "The Kiss" has given birth to another calf.

Misha, who became a worldwide sensation thanks to the image, gave birth to a baby girl on Monday evening.

The as-yet unnamed calf was born following a 15 month pregnancy and weighed 72kg at birth.

Perth Zoo senior giraffe keeper Bec Wood said Misha was a very experienced mother who was capable of caring for her calf without too much interference from keepers.

"(The calf) is suckling well, sleeping well and Misha will introduce her to solids just like an ordinary Mum would do as she needs to and as she weans," she said.

Ms Wood said the three-day-old calf had already changed a lot since she was born and was beginning to show her personality.

"She's very inquisitive, she's very friendly, she's quite affectionate," she said.

"We've already seen a really good bond with her Mum and her keepers, and she's slowly going to be introduced to the rest of the herd over the next couple of days as well.

"Hopefully you'll see her adventurous side peak as she learns to use her legs."
